Galneryus

Galneryus adalah band power metal asal jepang yang dibentuk pada tahun 2001 di Osaka oleh gitaris Syu dan Vokalis Yama-B. Syu dan Yama-B membentuk Galneryus dengan tujuan untuk mengekspresikan ide musik mereka. Mereka mulai merekrut tiga additional member A sebagai keyboardist, Shogo Himuro sebagai bassist dan Toshihiro "Tossan" Yui sebagai drummer

Pada bulan Oktober tahun 2001 mereka 2-track demo berjudul "United Flag". Demo ini diproduksi dan dirilis secara independen. Dengan dirilisnya demo ini mereka mulai mendapat perhatian dari fans musik jepang dan label indie jepang.

Setelah bermain dengan berbagai band metal lain seperti Fairy Mirror, Galactica Phantom dan Concerto Moon. Galneryus kembali ke studio untuk merekam EP kedua mereka yang berjudul "Rebel Flag" yang dirilis melalui label indie Iron Shock pada bulan Agustus tahun 2002.

Setelah rilisnya EP kedua mereka, Galneryus lebih banyak melakukan tur pada tahun 2003. Mereka pun diundang untuk tampil di acara Melodic Metal Festival di jepang dan bermain bersama band metal asal Swedia "Dragonland". Dragonland-pun mengundag Galneryus untuk hadir dalam konser mereka berikutnya di jepang.

Galneryus juga mendapat tawaran untuk ikut dalam dua album kompilasi metal cover. Mereka membawakan lagu Black Diamond (lagu dari band metal asal Finladia "Stratovarius") dalam album Stand Proud! III dan membawakan lagu Soldier Of Fortune (lagu dari band asal jepang "Loudness") dalam album Japanese Heavy Metal Tribute Tamasii II. Untuk lagu ini posisi bass diisi oleh Yusuke dan keyboard oleh Yuhki. Kedua album kompilasi ini dirilis bersamaan pada Desember 2002 melalui label Iron Shock dan didistribusikan melalui label VAP.

VAP menandatangani kontrak dengan Galneryus dan mulai merekam debut full-length album "The Flag of Punishment". Galneryus mulai berhenti menggunakan additional member dan mulai merekrut Ryosuke "Tsui" Matsui sebagai bassist, Yuhki sebagai keyboardist dan Juhnici Satoh sebagai drummer. Album "The Flag of Punishment dirilis pada bulan oktober tahun 2003. Galneryus merilis album kedua mereka "Advance to The Fall" pada bulan Maret 2005 dan merilis album ketiga mereka "Beyond The End of Despair..." pada bulan Juli tahun 2006. Album kelima mereka "Alsatia/Cause Disarray" dirilis pada bulan Februari 2008
Setelah The Live for Rebirth Tour, Tsui keluar dari Galneryus dan posisi bass diisi oleh Yu-To. Album keempat mereka "One For All - All For One" dirilis pada tanggal 22 Agustus tahun 2007.

Tanggal 10 Oktober tahun 2008, vokalis Yama-B memutuskan untuk keluar dari band setelah mengakhiri tur Back to the Flag dan digantikan oleh Masatoshi "Sho" Ono. Bersamaan dengan masuknya Sho sebagai personil Galneryus, Yu-To keluar dari band dan digantikan oleh Taka. Line-up ini tampil pertama kali di Loud Park Festival 2009. Album ke-enam mereka "Ressurection" dirilis pada tanggal 23 Juni tahun 2010. Album ke-enam "Phoenix Rising dirilis pada tanggal 5 oktober 2011.Album ke-delapan mereka "Angel of Salvation" dirilis pada tanggal 10 Oktober 2012. Album ini berhasil menduduki peringkat 17 dalam oricon chart.

Galneryus memulai tur eropa pertama mereka pada bulan juli tahun 2014. Negara pertama yang mereka kunjungi adalah Jerman dan berakhir di Spanyol.

Neo-Classical Metal

Neo-Classical Metal adalah sub-genre musik metal yang terlahir dari penggabungan musik klasik eropa abad pertengahan (khususnya era baroque) dan musik metal modern. Yang menjadi ciri khas dari musik ini adalah penggunaan tangga nada harmonic minor, modes phrygian dominant, tehnik sweep picking arpeggio dan aransemen lagu yang rumit. Gitaris yang sangat identik dengan musik ini adalah Yngwie Malmsteen dan Jason Becker.

Pergerakan awal genre musik ini dimulai pada era 60-an. Pada saat itu gitaris metal mulai merasa penggunaan tangga nada pentatonik blues dalam musik mereka sangat terbatas, mereka pun mulai melakukan eksplorasi dengan memasukan unsur-unsur musik klasik dalam musik mereka. Gitaris yang berperan dalam pergerakan  awal Neo-Classical Metal adalah Ritchie Blackmore dan Randy Rhoads.

Puncak kejayaan dari Neo-Classical metal adalah ketika Yngwie Malmsteen mengeluarkan album "Rising Force" pada tahun 1984. Sejak saat itulah Neo-Classical Metal mulai diperhatikan sebagai genre yang "spesial" bagi gitaris karena dalam memainkan genre ini dibutuhkan tehnik yang tinggi dan aransemen lagu yang rumit.

Sampai sekarang pun genre musik yang membutuhkan latihan yang keras untuk memainkannya ini tetap hidup.

Review  :

Park Mania was an interesting challenge. I liked how the developer strung together the sequences, and how there was a hint of realism in how they played out. They started out gently enough; at first, all I had to do was figure out how to use the accelerometer and movement slider in conjunction (more on controls later) to park a small sedan into an empty space. The aisles were wide, and spacing was liberal.

As the game progressed, the challenge became tougher. The driveways become thinner and maneuverability became more difficult. The parking areas started getting much tougher to get into. I liked the realistic challenges that I started facing: multiple cars, multiple stops, hidden rewards that upped the difficulty level, merging into traffic, sharp turns, bigger vehicles and more. The hidden rewards usually added to my cash haul at the end (I got cash for successfully completing challenges) and some seemed dependent on time. For every level, I had a set number of collisions before I “failed” the parking mission and had to redo the level.

The controls were simple. There was an on-screen forward/reverse pedal that was controlled by dragging. The survival controls were what really stood out.

I liked that there was a myriad of ways to control the vehicles: tilt controls, swipe/drag, virtual steering wheel or via flip controls. Part of the fun was trying out the different controls in difference scenarios. Giving folks options in this regard was a very good design decision in my opinion. In-app purchasing was available to buy attributes, but playing to earn cash was definitely not undo-able.

The graphics were nice and deliberate; the little things gave proof of the developer’s attention to detail. When I looked close enough, I could actually see the tires angle out when I turned, and when driving topless vehicles, the driver sat behind the wheel. The roadways, the barrier cones… even the flash of the headlights: they all tied in very well together.

And that, in a nutshell, is what made this game so much fun: all the pieces tied in well together. Chillingo seems to have a knack for doing this.

The little blue cuties are back in a fabulous – one might even say Smurftastic – social game for your iPhone.

Gargamel, the evil old man bent on capturing every last Smurf, has finally found the location of the Smurf Village. The Smurfs are scattered throughout the forest, and it’s up to you to help Papa Smurf build a new village so the Smurfs can thrive once again.

While a lot of the game is made up of the trappings of social games (timed events, harvesting and collecting, purchasing items to speed things up, etc.), what sets Smurfs’ Village apart is how well it uses the Smurf license to its advantage. For example, Jokey Smurf – master of mischief, carrying exploding presents for all – will give you one item per day. It might be useful, or it might be just a gag; Timber Smurf can chop wood to be converted to gold in order to build more houses for more Smurfs to live in.

Other smurfs bring with them minigames that help you level up your village faster. The first game you’ll play is Papa Smurf’s potion mixing game. In it, you’ll shake your iPhone until the color of the potion is just right, but not shaken too much. Harder difficulties have you maintain the color by carefully continuing to shake. Another fun one is Greedy Smurf, the baker, who has four ovens to watch and make sure his pastries don’t burn.

Smurfs’ Village also has a good amount of depth to it. There are a lot of crops to grow, missions to complete and things to build and upgrade. These missions, too, never feel contrived or forced. For instance, you can opt to send a Smurf out to keep watch for Gargamel. The plus side is, after a time, you’ll have more XP and gold. The downside is you’ll have one less Smurf to tend gardens or build structures. It’s a fun trade off.

You can even let your friends in on the Smurfing action. Thanks to Facebook integration, any friend of yours who links their Facebook account to Smurfs’ Village will appear on a map. Each day, you can visit a friend, giving and receiving free gifts. Don’t feel like publicizing your love for all things Smurfy? You don’t have to; Smurfs’ Village allows you to visit a random village anonymously without linking your Facebook account.

All of this is wrapped up in a beautiful, fun cartoony package. The Smurfs look just like you remember them: bright and blue. The design is exactly like the show, replete with mushroom houses, gardens and streams. All of the menus and icons are clear and easy to see. The music, though limited, is a very high quality soundtrack. The ambient forest sounds while you’re working are very nice as well.

In fact, the only real problem with Smurfs’ Village is some possible performance issues. The game slowed the iPhone (a 3GS, so take that as you will) to a crawl – across the board. Other apps (including Mail, Safari and iPod) crashed or slowed while Smurfs’ Village was running in the background. It took a full restart before things ran properly. Again, this may be isolated, but it is worth noting.

Given that Smurfs’ Village is a free download, it’s a no-brainer proposition. The Smurfs haven’t lost their charm, and it’s powering a great game underneath its Smurfy exterior. So don’t smurf any longer, and go smurf Smurfs’ Village. See? You do understand smurf after all!
